lustre: lov: Drop rq_buflen field

The rq_buflen field of the lov_request structure is never initialized.  It
is only used in the free of req->rq_oi.oi_md in lov_finish_set.  But no
oi_md field is ever initialized to the result of calling OBD_ALLOC_LARGE.
So it seems that the call to OBD_FREE_LARGE in lov_finish_set and the
rq_buflen in the lov_request structure are simply not needed.

The lov_lock_handles structure is only used as the type of the field
set_lockh in the lov_request_set structure, and this field is never set to
any value.  Drop a test and free of this field in lov_finish_set.  This
change enables also removing the functions lov_handle2llh and lov_llh_put
that manipulate values of type lov_lock_handles, but are now never called.

staging:lustre: cleanup libcfs lock handling

Previously with libcfs being built for user land and kernel
space wrappers were created to transparently handle locking.
Now that user land support has been removed we delete all
those locking wrappers with this patch. Many of those changes
landed upstream but some nice cleanups still remain that are
pushed in this patch.

MIPS: BPF: Fix stack pointer allocation

Fix stack pointer offset which could potentially corrupt
argument registers in the previous frame. The calculated offset
reflects the size of all the registers we need to preserve so there
is no need for this erroneous subtraction.

MIPS: Loongson-3: Fix a cpu-hotplug issue in loongson3_ipi_interrupt()

setup_per_cpu_areas() only setup __per_cpu_offset[] for each possible
cpu, but loongson_sysconf.nr_cpus can be greater than possible cpus
(due to reserved_cpus_mask). So in loongson3_ipi_interrupt(), percpu
access will touch the original varible in .data..percpu section which
has been freed. Without this patch, cpu-hotplug will cause memery
corruption.

MIPS: Fix enabling of DEBUG_STACKOVERFLOW

Commit 334c86c494b9 ("MIPS: IRQ: Add stackoverflow detection") added
kernel stack overflow detection, however it only enabled it conditional
upon the preprocessor definition DEBUG_STACKOVERFLOW, which is never
actually defined. The Kconfig option is called DEBUG_STACKOVERFLOW,
which manifests to the preprocessor as CONFIG_DEBUG_STACKOVERFLOW, so
switch it to using that definition instead.

iscsi_ibft: filter null v4-mapped v6 addresses

I've had reports of UEFI platforms failing iSCSI boot in various
configurations, that ended up being caused by network initialization
scripts getting tripped up by unexpected null addresses (0.0.0.0) being
reported for gateways, dhcp servers, and dns servers.

The tianocore EDK2 iSCSI driver generates an iBFT table that always uses
IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses for the NIC structure fields.  This results
in values that are "not present or not specified" being reported as
::ffff:0.0.0.0 rather than all zeros as specified.

The iscsi_ibft module filters unspecified fields from the iBFT from
sysfs, preventing userspace from using invalid values and making it easy
to check for the presence of a value.  This currently fails in regard to
these mapped null addresses.

In order to remain consistent with how the iBFT information is exposed,
we should accommodate the behavior of the tianocore iSCSI driver as it's
already in the wild in a large number of servers.

Tested under qemu using an OVMF build of tianocore EDK2.

drm: fix writing to /sys/class/drm/*/status

Writing to a file is supposed to return the number of bytes written.
Returning zero unfortunately causes bash to constantly spin trying
to write to the sysfs file, to such an extent that even ^c and ^z
have no effect.  The only way out of that is to kill the shell and
log back in.  This isn't nice behaviour.

Fix it by returning the number of characters written to sysfs files.

Input: alps - do not reduce trackpoint speed by half

On some v7 devices (e.g. Lenovo-E550) the deltas reported are typically
only in the 0-1 range dividing this by 2 results in a range of 0-0.

And even for v7 devices where this does not lead to making the trackstick
entirely unusable, it makes it twice as slow as before we added v7 support
and were using the ps/2 mouse emulation of the dual point setup.

If some kind of generic slowdown is actually necessary for some devices,
then that belongs in userspace, not in the kernel.

compat: cleanup coding in compat_get_bitmap() and compat_put_bitmap()

In the functions compat_get_bitmap() and compat_put_bitmap() the
variable nr_compat_longs stores how many compat_ulong_t words should be
copied in a loop.

The copy loop itself is this:
  if (nr_compat_longs-- > 0) {
      if (__get_user(um, umask)) return -EFAULT;
  } else {
      um = 0;
  }

Since nr_compat_longs gets unconditionally decremented in each loop and
since it's type is unsigned this could theoretically lead to out of
bounds accesses to userspace if nr_compat_longs wraps around to
(unsigned)(-1).

Although the callers currently do not trigger out-of-bounds accesses, we
should better implement the loop in a safe way to completely avoid such
warp-arounds.

perf/x86/intel/pt: Fix a refactoring bug

Commit 066450be41 ("perf/x86/intel/pt: Clean up the control flow
in pt_pmu_hw_init()") changed attribute initialization so that
only the first attribute gets initialized using
sysfs_attr_init(), which upsets lockdep.

This patch fixes the glitch so that all allocated attributes are
properly initialized thus fixing the lockdep warning reported by
Tvrtko and Imre.

ALSA: usb-audio: fix missing input volume controls in MAYA44 USB(+)

The driver worked around an error in the MAYA44 USB(+)'s mixer unit
descriptor by aborting before parsing the missing field.  However,
aborting parsing too early prevented parsing of the other units
connected to this unit, so the capture mixer controls would be missing.

Fix this by moving the check for this descriptor error after the parsing
of the unit's input pins.

MIPS: Avoid an FPE exception in FCSR mask probing

Input: elantech - fix detection of touchpads where the revision matches a known rate

Make the check to skip the rate check more lax, so that it applies

vfs: read file_handle only once in handle_to_path

We used to read file_handle twice.  Once to get the amount of extra
bytes, and once to fetch the entire structure.

This may be problematic since we do size verifications only after the
first read, so if the number of extra bytes changes in userspace between
the first and second calls, we'll have an incoherent view of
file_handle.

Instead, read the constant size once, and copy that over to the final
structure without having to re-read it again.

lib: Fix strnlen_user() to not touch memory after specified maximum

If the specified maximum length of the string is a multiple of unsigned
long, we would load one long behind the specified maximum.  If that
happens to be in a next page, we can hit a page fault although we were
not expected to.

Fix the off-by-one bug in the test whether we are at the end of the
specified range.

ia64: make cpu_callin_map non-volatile.

cpumask_test_cpu() doesn't take volatile, unlike the obsoleted
cpu_isset.  The only place ia64 really cares is the spin waiting for a
bit; udelay() is probably a barrier but insert barrier() to be sure.

x86/asm/irq: Stop relying on magic JMP behavior for early_idt_handlers

The early_idt_handlers asm code generates an array of entry
points spaced nine bytes apart.  It's not really clear from that
code or from the places that reference it what's going on, and
the code only works in the first place because GAS never
generates two-byte JMP instructions when jumping to global
labels.

Clean up the code to generate the correct array stride (member size)
explicitly. This should be considerably more robust against
screw-ups, as GAS will warn if a .fill directive has a negative
count.  Using '. =' to advance would have been even more robust
(it would generate an actual error if it tried to move
backwards), but it would pad with nulls, confusing anyone who
tries to disassemble the code.  The new scheme should be much
clearer to future readers.

While we're at it, improve the comments and rename the array and
common code.

Binutils may start relaxing jumps to non-weak labels.  If so,
this change will fix our build, and we may need to backport this
change.

Revert "iommu/amd: Don't allocate with __GFP_ZERO in alloc_coherent"

This reverts commit 5fc872c7323534e8f7dc21bab635e7a9b9659e07.

The DMA-API does not strictly require that the memory
returned by dma_alloc_coherent is zeroed out. For that
another function (dma_zalloc_coherent) should be used. But
all other x86 DMA-API implementation I checked zero out the
memory, so that some drivers rely on it and break when it is
not.

It seems the (driver-)world is not yet ready for this
change, so revert it.

API consolidation with coccinelle found:

        consolidation with schedule_timeout_*() recommended

This is a 1:1 conversion with respect to schedule_timeout() to the
schedule_timeout_interruptible() helper only - so only an API
consolidation to improve readability. The hard coded timeout of 10
jiffies is HZ dependent which it should not be, so it is converted
with msecs_to_jiffies.

Patch was compile tested with x86_64_defconfig + CONFIG_STAGING=y,
CONFIG_UNISYSSPAR=y, CONFIG_UNISYS_VISORBUS=m

Patch is against 4.1-rc5 (localversion-next is -next-20150529)

staging: unisys: Prepare vbus_hdr_info to be public

In order to remove bus_info, we need to migrate vbus_hdr_info into
the public namespace of visor_device.  Because the struct is private,
we use a void * to hide the contents.

As a result, we need to allocate vbus_hdr_info and manage it.

Also work around vbus_valid, as that variable will not be used
in the public namespace.

staging: unisys: Convert pending_msg_hdr to a pointer

In order for bus/dev_info structs to become public structs, one
element, pending_msg_hdr, needs to become opaque.  This is to keep
all the internals of the controlvm struct private to the bus layer.

So a simple conversion of embedding the pending_msg_hdr struct into
a pointer is done.  The rest of the patch is the fallout.

The rules are modified slightly.  Instead of relying on the 'id' to be
CONTROLVM_INVALID to indicate invalid, just use the pointer set to NULL.

In addition, because bus/dev_info can be NULL and we still need to send
a
response, pass pending_msg_hdr to all 'responders' instead of bus/

That change causes some fallout in the success case.  Instead of setting
state
bits and clearing info in the responders, do all that magic in the
responder
wrappers.

created, just create the channel from the start.

This allows us to remove the channel_info struct.

There's some "custom" data types defined that are never used in the
driver, so remove them before we work on converting the rest to be
"standard" data types.

staging: wilc1000: fix const cast warnings

The wilc1000 driver produces a lot of warnings about invalid
casts between const and non-const variables. This reworks
the code to avoid all those warnings, by marking variables
and function arguments const.

A lot of the types use WILC_Uint8, I change them to const u8
for style reasons, as I'm touching them anyway.

staging: wilc1000: remove semaphore wrapper

The various semaphore functions all directly translate into
sema_init(), down() and up(), so we can just remove the API.

This is a mostly automated conversion using simple sed scripts,
plus some manual changes to account for down() returning no
error.

As a positive side-effect, down() no longer hangs after
receiving a signal, as the original code did by looping around
down_interruptible.

The semaphores still need to be turned into mutexes as a
follow-up step.

staging: wilc1000: clean up timer feature

The driver has a simple wrapper around timer_list, and an
optional but unused feature to make the timer periodic.

This removes support for the periodic timer and simplifies
the code around timers.

A follow-up should replace the remaining wrapper with
open-coded timers.

The driver has a simple wrapper around msleep, as well as
a more advanced sleep function that is unused. This removes
the unused code and the options to turn the feature on or
off.

A follow-up should rework the code to use msleep directly.

The driver contains an abstraction for message queues, with
optional unused features, while the driver requires the main
feature.

This makes the msgqueue code unconditional as it's required
but removes the unused parts.

A later cleanup should remove the entire msgqueue code
and replace it with some normal kernel API.
